About SSC MTS

There are about 8,300 Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff (MTS) vacancies for SSC MTS Employees. As an MTS employee, you are very important part of the bureaucracy, especially when it comes to performing the daily operations of different departments you are hired in CCAS cadre (Central Civil Accounts Service) of the Group ‘C’ and are offered promotions within this group on the basis of seniority.

Multi Tasking Staff is a general central service group ‘C’ non-gazetted, a non-ministerial post which falls under Payband-1 (Rs.5200 – 20200) + Grade Pay Rs.1800. However, the take-home salary of MTS ranges between Rs.18,000 – 22,000 /month (approx). The salary could vary slightly based on location, allowances etc.

The SSC MTS Grade Pay increases with every Promotion:

  • First Promotion: Rs. 1900/- after 3 years of service.
  • Second Promotion: Rs. 2000/- after 3 years of service.
  • Third Promotion: Rs. 2400/- after 5 years of service.
  • And so on up to Rs.5400/-

#2. SSC MTS Work Profile

The job of Multitasking staff is challenging and needs hard work. Some mains points about the SSC MTS job profile and career prospects are given below.

1. Designation 

Peon, Dafatry, Jamadar, Farash, Chowkidar, Safaiwala, Mali, Junior Gestetner Operator etc.

2. Nature of Job 

The Following responsibilities & duties come under the SSC MTS Jobs:
  1. General cleanliness and upkeep of the Section/Unit.
  2. Carrying of files and papers within the building.
  3. Physical maintenance of records of the Section.
  4. Photocopying, sending of fax, etc.
  5. Other non-clerical work in the Section/Unit.
  6. Assisting in routine office work like the diary, dispatch, etc.
  7. Assisting on the computer.
  8. Cleaning of rooms and dusting of furniture etc.
  9. Delivering of Dak (outside the building).
  10. Watch and ward duties.
  11. Opening and closing of rooms.
  12. Cleaning of the building, fixtures, etc.
  13. Work related to his ITI qualifications, if it exists.
  14. Driving of vehicles, if in possession of a valid driving license.
  15. Upkeep of lawns, parks, potted plants, etc.
  16. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.

#3. SSC MTS Career Growth

There are two types of increments provided under Pay Band-I scheme, i.e.
  1. Annual increments
  2. Promotional increments

1. Annual Increments

Annual increments are to be paid at the rate of 3% of the total pay in the Pay Band and the corresponding Grade Pay.

2. Promotional Increments

  • Departmental exams are conducted in order to promote employees in government offices of various ministries.
  • At the time of promotion, the grade pay attached to the posts at different levels within the same running pay band changes.
